“As the Scriptures say, “I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honour, and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”
1 Peter 2:6 NLT
On that fateful sunny day in the wilderness, under a solitary broom tree lay Elijah; weighed down in despair and feeling all alone in 1kings19:4,
Standing on the edge and overwhelmed from the battle with jezebel and her goons, He simply had had enough and all the glitters and reason to live seems to have gone with the wind.
And from that depth of despondency, grappling with anxiety, he cried out.
Lord, he said, I have had enough!
Oh, Elijah! The strongest prophet of his time could no longer hold the fort.
Now, this is Elijah, what about you? How is your struggle?
Are you in a place where you feel stuck with no zeal to go any further? Just like Elijah, are you saying, no God, I cannot do this anymore?
You are not alone. We have walked that road at one point or the other. Realise this, you were never meant to do this on your own.
Thankfully, we have the Spirit of God in us yielding fruits of peace, patience, perseverance and hope, equipping us to withstand the heat.
Beyond the hullabaloo of anxiety, pain, loneliness, financial difficulty and distress, His voice of hope beckons to have us In the secret place of peace.
And in a gentle whisper, God spoke to Elijah, He wasn’t the noise but the voice of calm in the chaos.
Above all, there is a friend who has and will never leave us alone. His name is Jesus. With His loving arms, He has upheld us and loved us fiercely.
Jesus sees your groaning and secret tears. And His compassion reaching out. Your teardrops tugs at His heart. He wants to see you happy.
But you have to let Him bear this burden.
Underneath your pain, is a solid rock of offence.
Underneath your depression is a solid rock of defence.
Underneath your addiction is a solid rock of defence
Build on this rock. Cast it on Him
Everything that happens to us is not from God but He uses everything to work out for our good.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”
Romans 8:28-29 NLT
Say a prayer in faith, hold on and claim your victory in Christ Jesus.
There are storms God allows because it ultimately leads to His perfect will while the other nudges us to retrace our steps.
“And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.”
Romans 8:27 NLT
I have had plans God have disrupted. I have had to end friendships God closed didn’t want.
Yes, I was broken at that time but it was a gateway that drew me closer to God. I have come to realise that it is our weakest moments we can really revel in the strength of the almighty God.
Things would not always go as planned but note this, there is no good thing God withhold from those who love Him. If you are not having it, it is not for you.
It can be hard internalising this but this is the confidence we have in God. He has a plan for you, me, for all of us. Don’t drown in the waters of discouragement.
Just as Elijah turned back to his Maker and he was given food and water first to get refreshed. Surrender to our Father, rest in His loving embrace and be renewed.
“So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.”
1 Peter 4:19 NLT
He will comfort you today. The only hope we hold on to is in Him who makes everything new in His time.
His purpose is greater than ours. And even in that detour, look around you and see His flowers of goodness. Take in His fragrance of mercy and revel in His grace.
Like the Apostle Paul said, we can rise above this relying on the strength of Christ alone. Things will turn around sooner than you think. Your moment of rejoicing has come. No more shall your house be a place of sorrow. The joy of the Lord is your portion forever.
Meditate on this-
“For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you.”
Isaiah 54:10 NLT
Pray with me;
Dear God, I surrender totally to your leading. I ask you to separate me from anything that might keep me from you and fix my perspective. Father, I trust in your purpose and plans for me. Feel free to disrupt my plans and open my eyes to see you in everything. I claim my blessings in Christ Jesus.
Amen!
Stay blessed!

Thank you so much for this encouragement. I am blessed by your reminder that underneath this pain, I have a strong rock of offence, advancing on my behalf. We can celebrate now because the plans of attack will not be accomplished. x
