Discovering Godly wisdom for a fulfilled life

“But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace-loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favouritism and is always sincere.”

James‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I love this verse ’the path of the just is as a shining light that shines brighter and brighter.’ And as Christians who have been justified in Christ, our paths ought to be lit up.

So in the midst of the darkness of this world, how can we keep our light from growing dim?

By walking in God’s wisdom.

And what is God’s wisdom- It is the ability to discern and understand situations the God way. To interpret signs and heed instructions. The wisdom of God in us is the source of revelations and with revelations, comes power. Life can be full of ups and down but with the wisdom of God, it becomes easier. Wisdom is a fortress that defends us from ignorance which can tear us down. It considers God’s perspective in all decisions we make. Our ability comes from God. we become walking miracles when we walk in godly wisdom.

How do we know we are operating in wisdom? Simple- When its fruits are evident in our lives. So what are the fruits of this godly wisdom?

It fears the Lord

A wise person would not live carelessly with no regard for consequences and reactions. A wise person knows we are answerable to a higher power and there is eternity after now. A wise person regards the words of God and strives to obey it no matter the cost. Wisdom looks beyond feelings, immediate gratification and pleasure to future consequences.

It is Gentle

True wisdom tries to get along with everyone. This can be difficult some times as there are persons who will still be against you no matter what you do but nevertheless, our actions are not controlled by the actions of others but the Holy Spirit working in us. Not quick-tempered. We mustn’t shout to get a point across. I am pretty sure the person can hear you. Raising our voice at someone is demeaning to the person and does not speak well of our ability to control our impulses. The wisdom of God in us works patience.

It provides necessary insights

It is only by the wisdom of God was Joseph able to store food for 14years without damage or spoil. It can only be God.

We are the light of the world. The shines in dim or dark areas. It illuminated lives anywhere it is found. Therefore in order to operate in this dimension of the light, we need the wisdom of God for insights on how to rule and dominate and cast away the darkness.

It delivers to you the secrets of the kingdom.

“He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.”

Daniel‬ ‭2:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You remain on top of your game when you abide in the wisdom of God.

We need insights into the business.

We need insights into the person to marry.

We need insights on how to make a marriage work.

We need insights to living every day as the light in any place we find ourselves.

And these insights can only be received from the word of God.

Many things/situations are not as they appear therefore the wisdom of God is indispensable for every decision we make. in seeking a spouse, having a good marriage. before signing that business deal or taking up the job offer.

As the light, we live as examples to those who are yet to know Him so through our lives, they would come to love and appreciate the One who works in us to produce those good fruits.

It is teachable

No one has a monopoly of knowledge. We are constantly learning till the day we leave this earth. So to think no one can correct you or your way is the only path does not speak of true wisdom. True Wisdom is evident in our ever flexible Spirit.

The desire to unlearn and learn. Human wisdom is prideful and obstinate. It constantly puts others down and refuses to listen believing it cannot be spoken to but the wisdom of God is submissive and ever ready to learn.

This is not implying we should discard our convictions and let everyone run us over with their opinions, Not in the very least. With the wisdom of God in us, we know where to draw the line and what to pick up. For instance, someone made an absurd request to me and when I said no, I was labelled stubborn and unyielding. I knew in my heart the request was outrightly wrong so it was just a ploy to get me to feel guilty and give in. The word of God is a guide. we would never go wrong following it. We can discuss deep convictions without losing our request We can teach and be taught.

It does not judge by appearance

To be candid, it is human nature to want to evaluate people by the clothes they wear, the shoes on their feet, the cars they drive, and all other superficial things. We judge and rate them in our minds before deciding whether to proceed further or turn away. The good thing is we have the nature of Christ. To give people a chance to be who they are before we box them into a remote place merely based on what we see.

Samuel would have made the costliest mistake if he went on to point the better-looking brother according to his own biased sense of judgement- as the next king of Isreal. We know the God nature stretches beyond the 5senses and taps into the God kind of acceptance for everyone. It is true we don’t have to be friends with everybody but we are to be friendly with all, showing no hostility as this does not work the righteousness of God in us

It delivers us from a difficult situation

The best thing about wisdom is that it helps keep us out of dangerous, dark situations. God’s wisdom is a light, showing us every obstacle hidden in the dark that could trip us and cause us to fall. It is a firm grip on our hands leading us in the way we should go and returning us to the right path when we stray.

We won’t be jumping from one bad situation to another where we would always need bailout if only we seek the wisdom of God before we leap and succumb to its leading.

We fill ourselves with Him and His wisdom overflows from us towards all persons and situations.

To walk in wisdom, we have to grow daily.

How can we grow in wisdom?

1. By the help of the Holy Spirit

We have the Holy Spirit in us who teaches us all things. He enables us to stretch beyond our human capabilities and thoughts and reach for heights or tasks that would have otherwise seem impossible. He will help us stay grounded in doing the right thing.

2. Study the word

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Word Knowledge begets godly wisdom. We can only react rightly to a situation if we have the knowledge of what God is saying about that situation. It equips us to take the best action at the right time. For example, if you are deeply convicted of the love of God over us all, you won’t stay in relationships that do not mirror this love or look to a human for validation. Neither will you take pleasure in the downfall of another. It is all in the word. All we can ever need and more.

Search the scriptures, get familiar with what God is saying and apply it to your lives.

3. Ask for it

Solomon could have asked for anything but he chose to ask for wisdom. He knew with wisdom comes every other thing and this was proven in his lifetime.

By our power, we can do nothing but by His grace and mercy, it becomes achievable to walk every day in the God kind of wisdom. Ask and it will be given unto you.

Friends, This race we run is unto perfection, that one day we meet the Creator and our deeds on earth here will be judged. By walking in wisdom, we produce good fruits, do good deeds and live the life He purposed for us.

Are there other lessons walking in wisdom have taught you? Please feel free to share.

Stay blessed

You are loved💚💙💜

Graceful share sis. Wisdom is indeed profitable to direct as the scripture states. Wisdom is our guide. We fail and we’ll continue to if we do not allow it (Him – as Christ) guide us.

Wisdom has taught me to keep quiet in the face of provocation.

This is sooo true: “Many things/situations are not as they appear therefore the wisdom of God is indispensable for every decision we make” and it merges perfectly with your statement that we would not need continual bailouts if we sought God first. Thank you so much for this post. I have just been praying for God’s wisdom before I logged in tonight. Although you posted this a few days ago…I read it tonight when it directly applied. Thank you for being obediant to the voice and will of God.
