Anything is possible if you believe – how to Explore the power of faith.

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”― C.S. Lewis

Look around you, God’s handiwork is everywhere. From the sunset to sunrise. More importantly, the inexplicable process of conception to delivery of a newborn. All we do on earth is by faith. We sit on a stool believing it is strong enough to hold our weight. We fly in planes trusting the pilot to navigate the aircraft to our destination. You buy a portion of food from the restaurant hoping it isn’t poisoned or rotten. We cross a road hoping a car won’t emerge from anywhere and knock us down. In all we do here on earth, We basically live by faith.

”For we live by believing and not by seeing.”

2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

That being said, the most significant faith of it all is Faith in Almighty God.

Some may argue that you cannot believe in what you do not see but if you have to see it before you believe, it is no longer faith. Faith in God transcends human consciousness to a realm of believing there is a higher power who controls the affairs of men and we do this by believing in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross.

According to Hebrews 11:1, Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Substance refers to the tangible evidence of something. like the key to a car. The greatest substance of the existence of God is your heartbeat. Science in all its proofs of evolution cannot explain that.

Faith is trust beyond reason. It implies working in hand with the Almighty God to achieve impossible feats. Faith is trust beyond what we understand or feel. At the point of being born again, we give our lives to Jesus to renew our Spirit, then He puts a new Spirit within us and this Spirit ignites our faith in the supernatural. Faith is not motivation or strategy. It is an empowering force that propels you into a world of possibilities. Just as the scripture says, all things are possible to them that believe.

We know faith but do we live faith?

The father of the possessed son in Matthew 9:23-25, had seen Jesus do incredible miracles but when it came to his son, he wasn’t sure Jesus would want to do it for him.

The level of faith you place in Christ will determine how much influence you will have in the outcome of events in your life. God works in us, through us and for us to achieve His purpose. And God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ever think or ask. The works of our faith are limitless if only we push beyond the barriers of self-doubt and limitation. It is thinking beyond what is to what can be. The greatest inventions were made because the inventors saw beyond what was possible.

We shortchange ourselves as believers when we don’t exercise our full authority through faith here on earth. God called us to do exploits in His name more than Jesus even performed while He was on earth but how can we do this when our faith is not deeply rooted?

In the scripture, we see how much Jesus loved people who had total faith in Him. we don’t need to wait to feel good or everything to align in perfect condition in order to have full confidence.

If our path can be seen and our future predicted, of what use is faith? for by faith, we claim things that are unseen as though they are here. It is knowing that no matter what, God would always be there.

Without faith, life would be like an unsolved puzzle riddled with doubts, confusion and uncertainty. A child who has complete trust in his father can go and do anything, be anything, go anywhere because he knows his father would always come through. How much more our heavenly father who gave His only begotten Son for us? How is it we do not believe He wants the best for us and has blessed the works of our hands so we can dominate our world.

How do we exercise this unique type of faith?

It begins by taking one step after the other. Matching your prayer with action and believing God will come through according to His word.

To express faith means, you remain unperturbed even in times of difficulty because you know the master planner is working behind the scenes and your faith is focused on His word.

It is reaching for a place among the stars. No matter what, God is for us and with us. Our situation does not have to be rosy before we see the goodness of God. No matter how hard the storm blows, We keep our eyes lifted up on the One who has given Himself for us.

For our faith shall not stand in the wisdom of men.

How can we develop this radical faith?

1. Feed on the word.

“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.”

Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We grow when we eat a balanced diet in the right amounts. The word of God is a balanced diet for our life here on earth. It has everything we need to develop our faith. The word gives us boldness to face life. Study and meditate on the word daily.

2. Act on the word as the final authority

In every situation, we should be able to know what God is saying so regardless of any contrary event, we stand firmly planted on the authority given to us in the word.

3. Rely on the Holy Spirit

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”

Ephesians‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Suffice me to say, Nothing happens without the help of the Holy Spirit. He gives us the right enablement to empower us at all times. Develop a habit of praying in tongues and ask the Holy Spirit to help you overcome the anxiety of the flesh.

4. Endure trials

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”

James‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Trials stretch our faith and with its pressure, we grow. Whenever we exercise faith in the face of tribulations, we mature better our Christians.

5. Live a life of praise

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

Colossians‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sing praises to God at all times. Be in a constant state of gratitude.

Many may say, believe in yourself, Have faith in you but this logic is flawed as Self is unreliable. Our perception of self has developed over the years from our experiences, background and upbringing and these faults whatever notion either conscious or unconscious we have about ourselves. It may have also caused us to pick fears along the way that may be holding us back from a full manifestation of our potential. Under this premise, the best option is to place all your faith in Jesus. Jesus is strong when we are weak. He is able when we unable. He is faithful when we are unfaithful. His love on us propels our faith to move beyond man-made boundaries and experience the riches in His kingdom.

I conclude with this;

“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible. ”

Matthew‬ ‭17:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I loved this post! One step at a time, one foot in front of the other as we continue to immerse ourselves in His Word, song, people, and Spirit. I think sometimes we lose sight of faith when we try to see the whole picture. We see a pixel of His grand story and it can become dissatisfying, overwhelming, or even stressful. We’re curious so we want answers. We’re insecure so we want the next five steps, not just the next one…

I read a book—I want to say it was by John Piper, but my memory is failing me–where he talks at length about past grace and future grace. The idea is that when we review how we’ve seen the hand of God work in our lives, though our lives, and on the behalf of our lives—His past grace, we can confidently take the next step of faith—because we can count on His grace to meet us in the future. I am uncertain if I am communicating this well. Simply, if God has met us in the past, we can be confident that He will meet us in the future because He is unchanging. This helps us to remain faithful, even in the darkest of nights.

Anyway, I’m going on and on….Simply, your post got my mind thinking/pondering, which is one of my favorite things!

Thank you for sharing your heart on paper. I love it!

Faith is key in the life of a Christ believer because so many things just don’t align with human reasoning but because we trust His ways, His love and plans for us, we hence choose to stay with His plans and believe His graceful plans for our lives.

And so true, we can’t bank on ourselves. We are so limited (Self is really weak without God)

Apt – Without faith, life would be like an unsolved puzzle riddled with doubts, confusion and uncertainty. 👍
