Pray For Kanye West!

I usually avoid controversial topics so I am not compelled in any way to change my stance but I felt too burdened about this and had to weigh in on it.

It is no news that Kanye recently declared he has converted to Christianity and started Sunday services where he ministers songs. The hate from people especially Christians who question his motives and decide he is not worthy to call the name of Jesus is just too heartbreaking. It would have been understandable if it was non-believers but Christians too?

It may be difficult believing his motives when you choose to look at his antecedents.

Truthfully, at the initial stage of all this, before he started the SUNDAY services, I was skeptical. The first thing I thought was maybe he is trying to make money off the gospel. My perception changed when I watched his SUNDAY services and interview with Apple music. Whether we believe it or not, something supernatural is going on with Kanye and it is a reviving move.

Bottom line is, it is not up to us to choose who deserves to get saved or not.

This is where the commandment of Jesus comes in- to pray and love on new converts regardless of how we feel about them.

I don’t know everything about the situation but notwithstanding, I have a responsibility to pray for him. One thing I know is the devil would be mad to lose a soul and he would not let go without a fight. Therefore at this point, rather than talk about him, we should get on our knees and intercede.

It is a fact that Kanye is hugely influential, now imagine with the recent turn of events, what his influence would be in the conversion of new souls to Christ.

I believe there are people who may have never bothered to learn of Jesus or listen to Christian music but would invariably pick interest due to Kanye’s declaration. Kanye is musically talented and it is a blessing he would use that gift to the glory of the name of God. He is giving the gospel another dimension, providing an opportunity to those who ordinarily would not be a part of our ’traditional services ’ to worship God. The goal is to win souls for Christ and if this drastic change in Kanye would do that, why not?

More than anything, the idea of new souls being won to the kingdom should excite believers more than questioning his motives. His past is a huge yardstick people use to judge him. He is judged based on varied events from-His self-glorifying songs declaring himself to be God, his political stance according to some and his wife.

But C’mon, Imagine if God refused to use us because of our past errors. Many of us would not be here. God sees potential, He sees what could be and not what has been and what is, and this is all that matters. Kanye is not perfect, we are not too.

The ways of God are not the ways of men. God is seeking vessels to pour his Spirit upon. There is a wave of salvation going on right now. God is raising stones to worship Him. Many other celebrities including Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Lamar Odom, Nicki Minaj are choosing the path of Christ and that is something to rejoice about. Yes, Lord! More of this

Rather than wait for that, ’I told you he is a phoney’ moment, why not get on your knees and pray? Pray that he will become deeply rooted in Christ. Pray that more souls would come to the knowledge of Christ and embrace His love.

Bear in mind, Change is progressive. The word of God renews the mind. Everything won’t fall into place at once. So careful with placing huge expectations on him just yet.

You wouldn’t expect toddlers to act like adolescents.

Finally, please let’s keep him in our prayers. May this path he has chosen be to the eternal glory and honour of the name of Jesus Christ.

What do you think? Are you coming on board?

Stay blessed

You are loved 💙💜💚

Well written and expressed. I understand your stance of not being judgemental, who are we to judge others. We do not know kanye’s heart and mind, but God does. . I must say I am a bit unsure of the truth behind it all but why doubt and judge sitting afar.
Everyone deserves to be saved. I hope that his conversion is real and that he would be a means of influence to others if that is what God chooses.

Thank you for your post! I was skeptical in the beginning as well. Hollywood has a tendency to corrupt Christianity so I initially didn’t pay any attention in the beginning.
I watched an interview where he confesses that he didn’t know what to do in the beginning, he lacked a mentor and didn’t know that his Sunday Service needed the word of God until his dad mentioned that to him in passing. So now he is incorporating it. ♥️
    God is good 🥳

Yes! Paul had some people preaching out of selfish motives and his response was simply that he was happy the gospel was being preached. We should be praying for him and celebrating. The ground is level at the foot of the cross. We have all sinned and fallen short so we have no right to judge. Great post!

So much truth! We have to pray for him, and rejoice that in all this, many people who haven’t heard the gospel are getting to hear of it through him.

Let the church say yesssssss!!!!!! I OVERLOVE this post!!! If Kanye is in Christ Jesus, He is a new creation and the former things have passed away. There is no condemnation for him. The heart of God is love; for He so loved the world…which included Kanye. When we do opposite of what the scriptures tell us to do, it is revealing what is in our hearts. Truly you are an Angel! Thanks for this post!

Great post. I am hoping Kayne’s turn to Christianity will have an effect on my son who struggles with what to believe because he became disillusioned in the church by leaders doing wrong things.

Wow. I really love this. We can never choose who gets saved me not. In fact, we should be glad we have more people getting into the light. Ain’t about us, but who God chooses.

I was talking with some friends 2 weeks ago regarding this – someone mentioned: “Imagine if we have other top Nollywood stars come to the knowledge of Christ – more souls attached to each one of them!.”.

May he grow in faith. Amen!

God does not condemn anyone and He knows our hearts. He also said “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” (Matthew 716).
Not only Kanye need our prayers but his millions of followers also.

Thanks for sharing, you made so many valid points. I don’t know the controversy of this matter, neither have I watched any of the footage. It is God who knows our motive and the very intent of our heart. A yielded and surrendered heart, God knows and can use. God is All, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The veil rented, Jesus, is savior, friend and our redeemer. Did someone say Saul, hater and persecutor of Jesus Christ, early Christian and the church, who had an encounter. A divine appointment with God, Sight blinded, so he could See. Stripped of ego, title, and position, had to learn and was taught in that dark place to trust God and those sent by Him, through His process of gaining sight. Saul was transformed the inside out, God giving him a new name to Paul. Depositing His Spirit, His Love. The Word of God saturating, giving light, building faith, igniting transformation. Inside, Out, Change through process. God was ultimately Glorified. Paul an Apostle of Jesus Christ. Whosoever, let him come. The door is open wide. God desires all to come, embrace our own Damascus road experience.
    Peace. God Bless You. 🙏

True words. God desires that ALL MEN be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. It’s sad when the animosity comes from the fold; makes it look as though they don’t want him saved after all. God doesn’t call perfect men into his kingdom; rather, he draws in the worst men. No one is declared righteous based on his antecedence; a man his made just by his faith in Christ.

I love what you’ve said about Kanye, and our responsibility to pray for him. And hasn’t God, all through the Bible, used the most unlikely people to do the greatest work for Him? It’s just amazing to think about what God can do with Kanye in reaching people that most of us typically can’t. Thanks for this post!

We can only believe of the great things that God can do, whomsoever he chooses, if the purpose serves him, who are we to doubt, we can only believe in the good things and rebuke the hidden motives of the devil. Besides. Who is the devil to play with God that can mKe him win the tactics of his evilness. It is God who can turn the dark into light, and so Jesus does it again… To Kanye…. The same way He appeared to Paul. Rain down your blessings Lord!
