Fear not – feed your faith and starve your fear.

‬‬“When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”

Exodus‬ ‭13:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There was a shortcut, through the land of the philistines but God chose to take the Israelites through a longer route towards the red sea because He knew their faith would not carry them through that land. Instead, He leads them to a place where they would confront their fear. You would think by now after the plagues inflicted on the Egyptians, the Israelites would give complete reliance in God, but no, they still grumbled about every little mishap or obstacle.

Like the ever complaining Israelites, Where are we right now in our lives? do we grumble about every single problem we encounter and blame people / God for everything? Or we harbour a fear of all the things that could go wrong:-

Failing

Death

Rejection

loneliness

Pain

Disappointment

Shame/Reproach

The fear the Egyptians managed to instil in the Israelites through the tears of torture and hard labour managed to hold them back from seeing the greatness of God.

All they needed to be was strong enough to face the battle with the Philistines and get to the promised land faster. But fear held them back…

What if fear is what has kept you held down, going round in circles?

What if your inability to trust God as a child would trust his father has prevented you from experiencing the glory of God in your situation? Is it stopping you from reaching beyond where you are now into new territories? Does it speak defeat or hopelessness into your heart? Maybe you walk away at the edge of your breakthrough back to the misery you came out from because you aro discouraged and fearful to see the light right in you shining through.

Fear, the enemy of our faith, is the ring of anxiety

It is debilitating, a force of hindrance that prevents us from claiming our inheritance in Christ Jesus. Fear sets a mountain before us and tells us there is no way out.

Life is hard, yes. Things go awry and hit us so hard that shakes up our belief system and break our heart over and over again.

Maybe like the Israelites, you have been beaten, broken, subjugated and mistreated and your spirit crushed from the enduring torture.

I get this…

but I am not telling you to trust a man or that person who has disappointed you or the taskmaster, or even in yourself

No!

I am asking you to trust the Father, the one whose integrity cannot be broken.

The one who said, ’I will never leave you nor forsake you’.

Let this sink in.

No matter where you go and the opposition you might face, God is always in control. Every little detail about our lives down to what we eat it or wear is important to God.

Why should we not fear?

Because we have the Spirit of Christ in us and with it comes boldness.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

2 Timothy‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭NLT

A child-like faith does not consider situations to visualize an answer from God. He uses the word from God to create a new picture of the situation. We seem to forget God lead us up to here, So won’t He get us to the finish line?

Why not let him handle this while you do your part? He is able and those that seek him faithfully will never be put to shame. The integrity of His word cannot be broken.

“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”

Numbers‬ ‭23:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God wants to lead you from where you are now to your better place but He needs your cooperation. He requires you to trust Him with your whole being. He is the master planner. He hardened the heart of pharaoh so they keep up the pursuit in order for Him to completely remove them as a thorn in the flesh of His people. The Israelites saw it as a battle but God saw victory.

Perfect love casts out fear. God is love and He is perfect. The nearer we draw to Him, the less power fear has over us – because we feel His manifest presence, His comfort, His guidance, His love and His enablement.

To all our fears, God is saying, I am your shield and fortress. Run into me and find peace. Hold on to my word. Let it be the truth you live by. We have Jesus. We have all we need.

The ways of God are not ours but He will always act in a way that would give us the expected end.

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord, your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Father, at the entrance of word, gives light. I pray that this word illuminates lives and cause us to become deeply -rooted in you and no force of fear will be able to cause us to waver. May your love in our hearts fill us with courage and remind us of who we are in You.

Amen!

Blessings.

You are Loved💜💚💙

The nearer we draw to Him, the less power fear has over us- that is so true. The nearer we draw to God the less opportunity for fear to take root as we dwell more not on the possibilities of the ‘what if’s’ but more on the sovereign nature of our Lord.
