Better with Christ – Fix the issues.

”Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].”

2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Consider the verse, ’ becoming new creatures. At the point of accepting Christ, He comes and dwells within us as we have been dedicated to a greater calling. Christ in us gives us the ability to transform into the best version of ourselves. And in order for this good Spirit to flourish, we need to feed it the right food which is the word of God so it germinates and produces the fruits of righteousness in us.

In many instances, when we are struggling with unworthy character, bad attitude towards others and the inability to maintain good relationships, it signifies the presence of an underlying unresolved issue.

We are really good at building up rooms in our heart to stack up all the uncomfortable things we don’t want to deal with and pretend they never happened. It seems easier this way until one day, the walls can no longer hold and everything blows open.

Quick outburst of anger may be traced to deep hurts that never healed and waits for the slightest provocation to lash out, always being in the defensive, highly manipulative, constant mood swings that people have to walk on eggshells around you, fighting those who love you because you cannot be vulnerable enough to let them come close, Addictions of all kind(porn, sex, drugs, alcohol, internet, food etc).

There is also the problem of upbringing as In many cases, we mirror the example we were exposed to by parents, guardians or environment while growing up.

It is time to stop blaming the past or people as the reason we act the way we do. We must learn to take responsibility for our actions, as it is the first step to change. We can’t fix the surface without treating the wound.

These are important questions we need to ask ourselves. Why do I react in this manner? Why am I hostile towards people? Why do I always feel the need to tear others down? Why am I so defensive? Why am I constantly trying to show others my worth? Why do I feel the need to be mean and rude?

It is true that we become new creatures at the point of receiving Christ, but our mind renewal comes from unlearning wrong notions, lies and beliefs we picked up, shedding off the baggage and imbibing the truth of God’s word until it completely cleanses us of guilt and shame and gives us the right mindset for a believer. Christ became flesh to experience our weakness and pain so we have a friend who understands us perfectly and is willing to patiently steer us to the path of life.

For example, if people may have hurt you in past, giving your life to Christ does not automatically wipe off all the hurt away but gives you the confidence of better experiences in your future to outweigh the scars of yesterday.

It can also be as a child, you didn’t receive the love of a parent so you learn to numb your feelings until saying ’I love you’ to someone feels like lifting a large mahogany table with your hands.

To thrive as a Christian, all evil tree in us which does not bear good fruits to glorify the name of God must be cut down.

How do we know these evil roots?

Get honest with yourself. Allow the Holy Spirit to examine our heart and bring to knowledge the traits we exhibit contrary to His word. Through the lenses of vulnerability, we peek into the mirror of our soul and face those suppressed hurts.

This would be painful and require genuine humility with ourselves and before God but when the process is done and the root yanked off, Christ will become rooted in us and heal the pain leaving us wholly transformed and as better persons.

How can our mind be renewed?

By eating the right food which is the word of God.

God’s word purifies us inside out and changes our perspective thereby aligning ourselves in God’s will.

The word of God shows us our worth and teaches us to become more Christ-like and this stimulates a love for ourselves which will, in turn, spills over in our interaction with others.

The road to mind renewal does not offer us a smooth sail but the good news is we have the help of the Holy Spirit to guide us through every step we make. God watches over us. He sees our hearts and knows our struggles neither is our hidden tears or deep pain oblivious to Him. On days We act in a manner we don’t wish to or do things we loathe, He is still ready to help us become better persons.

Don’t think there is any cloud of pain or guilt that can block His sights on us. His mercy is the reason we can start all over to do things the God-way and live at peace with all men. Take His hand and walk with Him.

Bring all the shame and pain to Him. He will meet you right where you are because He longs to bear those burdens.

Let Him fix your heart and place within you a heart receptive to the glories of the Father and the transforming power of His word. Today has set the ball rolling. The moment of awakening is here. Trust Him! it will be worth it in the end.

“Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.”

Ephesians‬ ‭4:23-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

My prayer for you

“May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ —for this will bring much glory and praise to God.”

Philippians‬ ‭1:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Blessings

You are loved 💜💙💚
