But without faith, it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently ] seek Him. Heb 11:6 AMP
The quality of your life is dependent on your understanding of what faith is and its application in your life
Many of us are accustomed to the teaching of ”just believe” then confess and everything would work out. While this is partly true, it is just a part of the structure that makes faith function. Before we can boldly claim faith, we must understand the major pillars of a faith that works.
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17 KJV
The word faith translated from the original Greek means persuasion, credence, and conviction. This means faith is something that you believe is true and trustworthy.
This is how the Bible defines faith in Hebrew 11:1
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. NIV
Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see. CEV. Faith through hearing is by convincing our heart of the truth. And the truth can only be found in God’s word. God reaffirmed his promises to Abraham for 7 times. Imagine this! 7 times! So for Abraham to have had his unwavering faith in God, His heart was fully persuaded of God’s intention for him.
Revelation is knowing what the word is saying as regards to your prevailing condition and to gain the Rhema to unlock what it takes to make the word work for us.
Simply put, Once you have a picture or a deep insight of God’s plan for your life, it further strengthens your conviction and points you in the right direction,
At this point, You are fully persuaded. You believe Jesus is Lord. You acknowledge the finished works of the cross and you know what God wants for you. So what happens next? to receive instructions – we need instructions on what to do and how to do it in order to bring His will to pass.
And how do we receive God’s instructions? Through Prayer. In the place of prayer, Wisdom is bestowed and a blueprint is released to you. God tells you what you should do to get your miracle. It could be you are believing Him for a job, a spouse, financial breakthrough, greater understanding. Whatever the issue may be, at this stage, you receive the manufacturers manual for operation.
Some time ago, I was praying for a certain miracle and God asked me to go volunteer in a particular place. It seemed so abstract at the time but now I understand why. He had planned a meeting and I needed to be in the place in order to run into the person. How well-orchestrated Father! It would have passed me by if I tried to reason my way out of it.
Think Abraham leaving his father’s house, the children of Isreal walking around the wall of Jericho, David barred from building the temple, Gideon was asked to downsize his soldiers, the servants filling up the water pots in Canaan. The list go on and on. But one thing they have in common was they all received specific instructions for their miracle to happen. There is always a part for us to play. A faith that leaves all the work to God is a delusional one.
Everytime we go to God in prayer with petitions, He hears us. The point is, do we have the faith capacity to receive what He has released unto us?
“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”
Matthew 21:22 KJV
The moment we receive instructions from God, we must act quickly. The Devil is crafty and can try to discourage you from going through with it. But I assure you when you totally surrender to the will of the Father, obeying His voice would be second nature to you.
To take action means you believe what you have read and received. This is the true test of the brokenness of a Christian. Your willingness to submit and do what God has commanded you to. The process doesn’t have to make sense to you. You cannot use the limited human reasoning to rationalize the workings of the kingdom of God.
Bear in mind this, delayed obedience is disobedience. God works with your obedience. It is true that sometimes because grace covers us, some blessings still come through. But to fully activate the blessings of the kingdom that would make life a better place for us, we must walk in timely obedience. This is proof that you truly believe. You might be waiting for a miracle in a particular area of your life but all you are required to do is to forgive someone you have held in your heart.
Obedience =love of God. If you do not obey the word, forget about its expression in your life. God loves us. Undoubtedly! But He is also a God of laws and principles.
Jesus mixed and placed a mud paste on the eyes of the blind man then told him to go wash. Wait a minute, did Jesus forget this man was blind? how would he find his way to where he could wash? Why didn’t the man complain about the unusual instruction?
The ways of the Kingdom are unconventional and sometimes radical. And if we say we love God, we must obey His commands. That is the only way. If we are willing and obedient, we would eat the fruit of the land.
The best part? The Holy Spirit empowers us to obey. He enables us to fulfil our obligations to the covenant. all we have to do is allow Him to lead. We must first seek, believe, act then confess. Only then can we walk in the manifestations of our miracle. Faith is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted in spite of your changing moods.” CS Lewis
I end with this verse;
“I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”
Mark 11:24 NLT
For we walk by faith, not by sight:
2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV
“Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?””
John 11:40 NLT
