“Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.””
Matthew 28:19-20 GNB
Sometime ago, after I joined a local church, I did the workers training and got posted to the evangelism department in church, I wondered why as I didn’t even apply to go there. I had applied to go to the prayer and sanitation group. but the group pastor said it is what is best suited for me.
A little back story here. I used to be a very shy person. I would rather be stuck in a room with cats and I don’t even like cats than spark up a conversation with a stranger. Same reason you won’t find me in many social gatherings.
I had originally wanted to join prayer & sanitation because I could just do my thing and go and not have to be put in the spotlight. But this, being called to evangelism was a new challenging territory.
So I went searching and found my favourite verse on boldness, 2 timothy 1:7; God has not given us a spirit of timidity or fear but of boldness and a sound mind.
There it was. God has called me to be bold. To go forth and preach His word. I would not be doing it in my power. His Spirit was there to enable me. All I had to do was yield myself as a vessel for him to fill and use. It also helped that I had this deep pull within me to talk to people about Christ so I eventually got over myself, participated fully and joined outreaches. It has been a very rewarding and learning ride but not without its test.
There are days I feel like I carry the weight of the world. And I don’t even want to face the world let alone talking or preaching. But then I remind myself that His purpose is bigger than my feelings. What matters is the knowledge I have of Him. He came and died to save us from condemnation and to give us eternal life. People who don’t know this have a right to know. So I show up, go talk about Him and remind people of the love of the Father and the security we have in Him.
It is not of our making but of He who has called us to this field.
I am also thankful that in the clime where i live , there is freedom to share Christ to a large extent unlike Sadly, in some places that the mere mention of Christ can get you killed.
According to statistics, there are about 2 b christians in a world population of over 8b. So there is work to do friends. The worries and cares we bear are distractions pulling us away from what really matters. To win souls for the kingdom. We must leave those cares with Jesus, believe He would bear it for us and fix our focus on His purpose.
You see, just like someone told you that Jesus loves you.
You must tell someone, who will tell someone until the earth is filled with knowledge of God. There is so much darkness in the world and you hold the power. You carry the light. Let it shine.
On this journey with Christ, not every day is roses and petals. There are days you would have to fight to share the word. There are days you must battle the inner voice trying to discourage you from your purpose. From speaking about Him. Challenges would arise. Discomfort would come.
But one thing I promise is, you would never walk alone. For even though we walk through fire, He would be with us. His word is our root. We can grow and spread our branches. He is our strength. Hope. Refuge. Eternal rock of ages. Buckler. He is our stay. A Father who reaches our every need.
Keep showing up to your calling.
Keep doing what He has called you to.
It gets hard then it gets easier.
You would never be alone. The Father is with you. we don’t feel. We know.
I leave with this prayer,
“God has raised from death our Lord Jesus, who is the Great Shepherd of the sheep as the result of his blood, by which the eternal covenant is sealed.
May the God of peace provide you with every good thing you need in order to do his will, and may he, through Jesus Christ, do in us what pleases him. And to Christ be the glory for ever and ever! Amen.”
Hebrews 13:20-21 GNB
Stay blessed
You are loved💛💙💜
Angel
Scripture for the day!
This is why I tell you not to be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn’t life worth more than food? And isn’t the body worth more than clothes?”
Matthew 6:25 GNB
Dear Angel, this is very much what I needed to hear today. The pastor asked me to take on a responsibility I am not so sure about. As I have been asking God for some clarity, I read your post. I realise that I was thinking a lot about how I would feel doing it, the work involved etc etc. you literally made me shift my ‘ why I should consider it’
Thank you my friend and God bless you 🤗💙

Preach it, sister! God’s promise is greater than our feelings. We do not feel. We know. It’s not our work, but His.
Great thoughts. Thank you for sharing your story. God has taken a supposed weakness (dealing with strangers) and turned it into a strength for His glory.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.
The personal examples and explanations of how God works in you own life are most helpful!
His best to you, always. 🙏

“There are days you must battle the inner voice trying to discourage you from your purpose. ” Most days actually, and often many times throughout the day. I try to notice when something gets really hard – computer glitches just as I’m trying to post or send something – and tell myself, “Ah, that must be exactly what I’m supposed to do right now.” Our purpose may be fulfilling but not necessarily easy.

I love this post. How wonderful that your pastor recognized your gift and gave you the nudge you needed. I just learned today that the woman who gave me my little church ministry nudge has now moved to heaven. I love your little encouragement too: “Keep showing up to your calling.” Thank you for the encouragement, Angel.

So good! I believe God is calling people out of their comfort zones and step into the full authority He has covered us with! It takes such faith to step into the unknown, but it is so, so worth it. Like you said, there is work to be done. We can’t plant seeds if we aren’t willing to dig. 🙏🙌
