“Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant and boundless mercy has caused us to be born again [that is, to be reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] to an ever-living hope and confident assurance through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
1 Peter 1:3 AMP
I used to think my worth lies in my doing. I was always about what I could do to prove myself. It put me in a constant state of anxiety because sometimes people don’t even appreciate what I do and I internalize it as not being worthy enough.
In my relationship with Jesus too, I was more concerned with doing. I thought I could earn His love. I was so afraid that I couldn’t rest in Him. And even when I burned out, I would be afraid to show it because I believed my usefulness lay in my ability to do it.
But how wrong I was!
First- Noone can earn the love of the Father. He has loved us even before we loved Him.
2. Everything I strived to do to prove my worth was already done by Christ on the cross. All that was requires of me was to rest in the finished works of Christ. To be laid back and receive His goodness. Because it is only in this love I can find my worth. His righteousness made me righteous. His sacrifice makes me worthy. I cannot earn this. I have nothing to prove to Him. He knew me even before I was conceived yet still chose to die for me. The unconditional love of God.
This is not saying we have no responsibility towards Christ as Believers, not at all. The point is if we have the consciousness of I am worthy. He chose me. He loves me. We can comfortably walk in dominion. Whenever we step away from this consciousness, we fall into sin. Because we lose sight of who we are. This is a major strategy pf the devil.
Believers are mislead to look at themselves instead of looking at Christ. Then he keeps you looking at your shortcomings, your failures, your weaknesses, and ultimately you get trapped in condemnation. But this is not supposed to be. We are meant to look unto Jesus everyday, the author and finisher of our faith. A friend who understands us more than anyone else.
Jesus has done it all and provided grace. Grace covers our shortcomings. Grace recognizes our struggles. He sees our traumas. Grace sees us as we are and still finds us worthy. Grace covers us. Because He is, I am.
As we remember the Sacrifice of Christ, lets reflect on areas in our lives we are still striving to prove ourselves, rooms in our lives we have shut out the love of God. Allow His love transform you. Rest in His finished works.
HAPPY RESSURECTION SUNDAY Friends!
